Since the first TS-100 left the Riga warehouse, the TS thermo-shaker group has shipped over 40,000 units of instruments and interchangeable blocks to partners in 84 countries.
Each generation of thermoshakers solved something the one before couldn't. Added cooling has driven the market from 0% to 65% of total TS product group sales nowadays. After demand from users, we added a wider block range so the unit is able to hold a wide variety of vessels – cuvettes, cryotubes, 12mm diameter round-bottom tubes and 5ml to 50ml tubes.
TS-100C Pro offers programmability in a single device, adding to the familiar values of previous generations: reliable heating and cooling, and a wide vessel range in the same compact footprint device. This in fact makes multi-step sample preparation more controlled, repeatable and convenient – all available on a thermoshaker platform that is designed for shared labs.
What's new with the TS-100C Pro?
Upgraded maximum speed
TS-100C Pro features a maximum speed of 2500 RPM, supporting intensive mixing, bead suspension, extraction and lysis workflows. This maximum speed is block-dependent; see the user instructions for precise limits.
Easy block exchange and automatic block recognition and new naming structure
We heard you – and the new device features a new mounting mechanism for thermoblocks – no additional tools required, no cable connections. The TS-100C Pro automatically recognises the blocks and applies any limitations that blocks have. This reduces the time the block exchange took previously.
We also made the block names more logical. It consists of a three-letter code, TSP, for Thermo-Shaker-Pro and a number code that identifies the vessel it can hold. For example, TSP-20/0.2+12/1.5 means that the block is compatible with TS-100C Pro and holds twenty 0.2ml tubes and twelve 1.5ml tubes.
TS-100C Pro is also compatible with legacy TS-100C blocks, but the device will automatically limit the maximum block speed to 1400 rpm.
Touchscreen functionality with programming features
The new touchscreen control offers all functionality on the screen. Choose the right settings – speed, time and temperature on the screen with a keyboard; accept the current settings by pressing “Play” or the physical button next to the screen; and see your set parameters and the actual parameters of the run, which are visible while the reaction is happening.
Top information panel – shows date and time, current user profile, any errors and block information. In the middle access settings according to your protocol. At the bottom, you can access quick features like saving current single-step settings, Screen lock, Quick Mix, and Lid heating.
When choosing the settings, you can also choose three rates for how fast the block will accelerate or decelerate, and three rates for how fast the temperature will heat or cool. In addition, choose when the reaction starts (the timer starts when speed/rpm reaches the set condition) and what the device does when the reaction ends (should it keep shaking?).
The device has two modes of operation: single user, where every user can save 20 programs and 20 presets and run the device. Or shared laboratories will appreciate the multi-user settings that let you set up administrator profiles and create five user profiles with PIN (optional). Log out, and the device can still run in GUEST profile, but you can't save presets or create programs. Each user profile can save up to 20 presets and create 20 programs.
- Presets – quickly save the current parameter set as a preset to recall when the protocol calls for the exact settings; no need to set the parameters one by one again and again.
- Programm - for more elaborate multistep operations, create a program with up to 20 steps. If a step needs repetition, choose the cycle option.
- Settings screen - lets you control screen brightness, sounds, and sound patterns for various events. The maintenance menu lets you view the serial number, firmware version, operating hours, and service reminders. The calibration screen calibrates the block temperature to the actual temperature. For every warning or system information log, a QR code will link to the manual.
Optional heated lid
In addition to previously mentioned upgrades, we offer an optional heated lid that minimises condensation, optimises heat distribution and provides a more stable environment for your samples.
When connected, the system will automatically recognise it, and you can switch the lid on or off when heating the block. Once switched on, it will remain switched on for further experiments. In addition, the lid protects against light in light-sensitive workflows.
What application fields are the TS-100C Pro suited for?
Higher speed supports demanding workflows such as bead resuspension, NGS library preparation, protein extraction, and analytical sample preparation. The TS-100C Pro is also compatible with DNA and RNA extraction, enzymatic reactions, incubations, cell lysis and hybridisation reactions.
